Eastside church of Christ Leadership

Eastside church of Christ is blessed to have a leadership team who are truly dedicated to Christ and accomplishing His will. Following are brief bio's of our leadership team and their qualifications for ministry.

Jon Smith

Minister

Hello from the Smith family!  First of all, we want to shout out a huge “Thank you!” to Eastside.  Since our first visit here, we have been amazed and grateful for your outpouring of love, your generous service, and the massive amount of work you have poured into preparations for our arrival.   We greatly appreciate all you have done at the house and elsewhere. Our desire is to get to know you as we work, serve, worship, and grow together in the Lord. My task is to share with you the Word of God in all its power, beauty and purpose. I will also strive to call you to reach higher (in worship and praise), dig deeper (in study and insight in the Word), reach farther (in service to the community), and go wider (in outreach to the lost).

Let’s march boldly forward in faith together. May we all never stop learning, serving, and growing in Christ. I earnestly encourage you to:
• Spend time with God in prayer every day
• Spend time in the Word every day
• Pray for, look for, and take advantage of opportunities to invite friends, neighbors and others to Eastside
• Dive in fully to the life of our congregation.  Participate in a small group, attend Sunday morning and Wednesday evening classes if at all possible, and jump into other projects and activities of this church family.

Jon Smith, along with his wife Andrea and son, Jeriko, began his work at Eastside in June of 2022.  Previously he preached in Big Spring, TX, Sherman, TX and Wilkesboro, NC.  Before that he served as a youth minister for 12 years.

The son of a preacher and missionary, Jon lived in Botswana, Africa for five years.  A portion of that time was as an apprentice missionary with the Adventures in Missions (AIM) program, part of the Sunset International Bible Institute in Lubbock, TX.  Jon holds a Bachelors degree in Biblical Studies from Sunset International Bible Institue and from Lubbock Christian University.  He holds a M.Ed. in Counseling and Human Development from the University of North Texas.

Jon and his family love to travel and go camping.  They also enjoy just being together.

Andrea Smith is a former high school science teacher with a Masters degree in education.  She now homeschools their 15-year old son, Jeriko and coordinates the children's Bible classes at Eastside.
